About the Trek
Located in the dense lowland jungles, Darjeeling Singalila National Park is home to a unique array of flora and fauna, some of which are incredibly rare and may be unfamiliar to many visitors. This park stands out as one of the few locations worldwide where the elusive Red Panda can be spotted. Despite the fact that the park is home to only around 32 Red Pandas, it also provides a habitat for the Himalayan black bear, leopards, pangolins, wild boars, chinkara, barking deer, and a variety of bird species. Adventurous individuals can trek through lush bamboo, rhododendron, and oak forests. With few visitors exploring Singalila National Park, tranquility and solitude are readily available for those who venture along its paths.
Easily visible from the heart of Darjeeling, the majestic Kanchenjunga massif sets high expectations for a close encounter during the trek. As trekkers embark on their journey, glimpses of the towering mountains gradually reveal themselves. Throughout each day of trekking, for three hours at a time, the silhouette of the Sleeping Buddha intermittently appears and disappears, teasing adventurers with its beauty. Upon reaching Sandakphu, trekkers are rewarded with a breathtaking and unobstructed view of the Sleeping Buddha, which remains a constant and awe-inspiring presence for much of the journey.
